A warning

I was debating making a post about this makeup company for a while just because it's kind of old news but changed my mind feeling that maybe it was just better to use what happened to warn people to check into makeup companies first before buying.

So.... here we go

This was a couple of years ago and I was looking for some bright and vibrant colors to play with (sugarpill was yet to be launched) and one of the girls I was working with told me about the great makeup company you could find through Etsy.com

Orglamix seemed great to me at the time. They were selling what they said to be organic makeup in an incredible array of colors at only $4.99 per loose shadows. I purchased 7 colors and they even sent me an extra one for free!
Left to right: Blue chakra, Green chakra, Absinthe, Yellow chakra, Orange chakra, Red chakra, Fuchsia, And the free color they threw in Pomegranate.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones because the colors I purchased seemed great to me. Plus the Pomegranate color they gave me for free was definitely one of my favorites. I didn't have any adverse reactions to their products and I was happy with my purchase.

A while later I decided that I wanted to order more I tried to look for their store on Etsy and is was taken down. I guess they had so many complaints that caused Etsy to remove them as a seller. I looked further into what had happened and found that they were in the middle of a repackaging scandal. Many buyers reported finding Orglamix stickers covering stickers from other companies on their packaging. On further inspection of my own I found that I too had a double sticker....I can't get the top one off so I don't know what the one underneath says.

Some people also reported getting rashes and irritated eyes from using some of the colors. It's pretty shady business practice to lead people into believing that they are buying a certain product when they are actually getting another which may contain ingredients that are irritating or aren't even meant to be wore in a certain area. ie. the eyes

Anyway, I personally haven't had any problems and will continue to use the colors I purchased until they are empty but I know I will never buy from a company unless I've done my research again. Hope this pushes other to do their research too before buying cosmetics.

New Sugarpill!! WOOT!

Happy Dance!

So I went to the mailbox today and got a package from Sugarpill!!

I've been eagerly awaiting this package. I ordered the remaining Chromalusts that I didn't yet have, some false eyelashes AND the Heartbreaker palette! Plus some stickers =)

I'm going to start with the Chromalusts that I purchased.

Left to right: Absinthe, Tipsy, Tiara, Stella, Magpie, Weekender, and Magentric.
All the colors are super vibrant. I did find that Absinthe and Tipsy are pretty close in color but they're both great greens. Stella is particularly pretty because it is filled with multicolored sparkles. The picture doesn't really do it justice... or for any of the colors for that matter. I really do like all the colors though. Can't wait to do some fun looks!

For eyelashes I purchased the Angel Baby, Toxic, Stormy and Shady Lane false eyelashes. I'm not going to include individual pictures of these because I believe the Sugarpill website has better pictures available. I'll show them off when I post some looks with them on.

On to the Heartbreaker Palette!

Top left to right: Acidberry and Velocity  Bottom left to right: 2AM  and Mochi

This palette is freaking awesome. I personally think that the colors in this palette are some of the best pressed shadows that Sugarpill has to offer.

Acidberry, Mochi, 2AM and Velocity is action!

I'm going to post a look very soon using these colors. I just want to play around with them a bit first =)

Thanks for reading!

Woodland Creatures

I purchased some ears and tails to dress up at parties from an Etsy store called Woodland Creatures. Their accessories are well made and are extremely cute!

So far I have a set of lynx ears and tail

The ears are on a thin metal headband and are very comfortable
The tail has a little loop that you can attach to a belt. I will probably pin it on.
I also have a raccoon set and a fox set ordered! I can't wait for them to arrive!

Sparkly spirit hood!

I have been going to raves and parties for over a decade and throughout this time I like to create fun things to wear.

One of the most popular accessories in the last few years, especially at Shambhala, has been the spirit hood. I have created my own making a sparkly (I love things that sparkle!) magical version to suit my personality in my favorite colors!

I cut out my own spiral design in the shimmery purple and blue fabric and sewed it onto a sparkly black corduroy with a glossy turquoise thread. The inside is lined with soft black micro fiber fabric and then finished with a super soft black faux fur and then embellished with Swarovski crystals.

I can't wait to wear it this year at Sham!

Lime Crime swatches and review

So I just received a package in the mail a little while ago that made me quite happy. First of all let me say that I've read up a lot on this company and I was a little hesitant to purchase anything but I really wanted to try out the gloss and lip shades so I said screw it. I figure people all make mistakes and deserve a second chance. Anyway, as long as I'm pleased with the product and am treated well, I'll be a happy person.

So first off the shipping was awesome, I got it one week from when I ordered and I live in Canada. unfortunately two of the lippies arrived broken so I e-mailed Lime Crime with pictures. They responded the same day and within a week I received new ones to replace the broken ones. So despite some of the negative stories about their customer service, I was extremely pleased.

So! On to the makeup! What did I get??

Well the package that arrives in the mail is this cute little purple box with the Lime Crime unicorn logo as well as a little quote from Doe Deere the founder of Lime Crime.

Inside wrapped in purple tissue was a holographic unicorn sticker, the Carrousel lip gloss collection, the China Doll Palette with a sample of the eyeshadow helper, and 8 opaque lip shades (Coquette, Airborne Unicorn, Retrofuturist, Glamour 101, Great Pink Planet, My Beautiful Rocket, Chinchilla, and Cosmopop)

The pressed eyeshadows are of really good quality and come in a cute purple tin that I can keep when I finish the colors off. They go on very smooth and and blend well. I'm also very impressed with the eyeshadow helper sample that came with it. It really does have great staying power and intensifies the colors.
Left to right: Fly Dragon Fly, Parasol, Goldfish, Jade-O-Lade, Lotus Noir

All of the colors are quite pigmented!

And now for the glosses and lippies!

Carousel Gloss
Candy Apple - bright red with red sparkles

Cherry On Top - bright pink with pink sparkles

 Golden Ticket - True gold

Kaleidoscope - dark purple with purple and blue sparkles

Loop-De-Loop - Dark blue with blue and purple sparkles

Lippies!
 Retrofuturist - bright red

 Glamour 101 - wine red

 Airborne Unicorn - Light purple/pink

Great Pink Planet - light pink

 Chinchilla - lavender grey

 Coquette - peachy nude

My Beautiful Rocket - bright orange

Cosmopop - orange creamsicle

Which color do you like best??

So far I'd have to say Coquette and Airborne Unicorn. I've haven't really been known to wear lipstick that often, but I was really attracted to the fun colors and wanted to have some lippies in my collection. I hope the pictures can help others decide on what colors they may want to buy.

On another note I have more lime Crime on the way. I awaiting the Palette d'Antoinette and the gel liner collection. YAY! And I want to get the blue and green and yellow lippies when they're back in stock.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals swatches

I was in need of dark rich colors and I found exactly what I wanted in Bare Escentuals bareMinerals. I purchased three colors which are great as either a shadow or a liner.

Tortoise - darkest brown, almost black with gold shimmer
Sex Kitten - shimmery bronze
Soul Sister - deep burgundy purple

All three are incredibly smooth going on and have been fantastic to create a smokey eye!

Lit Cosmetics collection, swatches and review

This is an awesome Canadian company from my home sweet home; Calgary Alberta. They specialize in glitter and they have amazing colors (tons of them!) and the best adhesive out there.

I started by buying a couple colors a number of years ago and that turned into a full blown addiction... I love glitter, what can I say?

Hopefully this post can help others who are interested in purchasing some Lit but want a swatch to really see what the color looks like because I know the website can be a little difficult to tell from their pictures.

Lit sells their glitter in 4 cut sizes (4 being the largest) and 4 finishes (solid, shimmer, metallic and electric)  Most of the colors I have are size 2. I have a few size 3 solid colors but most of my size 3 are shimmers. All electrics (neons) are size 1 I believe. I don't own any metallics.

Here is my whole collection. I have the blacklight sensitive colors off to the left.

The blacklight sensitive colors are so much fun to play when going to parties or clubs!
Swatch time!

Army brat, mary jane, plush, cayman, madonna, nirvana, twisted sistah, punk, and roxy rolla.
Strawberry angel, vixen, carrot head, liberache, champagne wishes, rich and famous, heavy metal, beach baby and hot chocolate.
Hot chocolate, cowgirl, hoochie mama, I feel love, gun smoke, Marilin Monroe, Miami vice, pink flamingo, dreamsicle, sugarfree, superstar and purple rain.
Magic dragon, go golf, seeing stars. This picture didn't really capture it but magic dragon is an awesome green over black eyeliner whereas seeing stars is lots of blues and purples.
Priss, pretty hot pink, solar blast, green machine, lemon tart, London calling, no doubt, beyond pink, kabang, reboot and kaboom.
I somehow missed swatching Gal friday. Its a slightly darker purple than twisted sister.
Here is my boyfriend and I from last Halloween. I wore magic dragon and
green machine (which glows under blacklight!) that night. The glitter didn't budge all night. I think I still had it on when I woke up the next day. lol! We had a lot of fun.

Hope you enjoy the pictures! If there is a color you want a better look at please let me know!

Sugar Pill review and swatches

Hola my fine people,

I know a lot of people have done reviews of this company and their products, but I've decided that I'm going just add to the general consensus that this company rocks.

Their colors are fantastic, bright and vibrant with a great color payoff. So far I've received two packages from them, their delivery was expedient (I got both packages in Canada within 2 weeks after ordering), the packaging is beautiful and there's a personalized thank you on the delivery slip. In the first package I also received a free sticker and business/photo card. I didn't get either in the second package but I wasn't really that disappointed, I got what I ordered and that's what matters!

so.... what did buy?

My first purchase included the burning heart palette (contains buttercupcake, flamepoint, love +, poison plum pressed eyeshadow), bulletproof pressed eyeshadow, asylum chromalust, lumi chromalust and starling chromalust.

Buttercupcake, Flamepoint, Love +, Poison plum, Starling, Asylum and Lumi over Urban Decay's primer potion.

This picture picks up the shimmer a little more
I forgot bulletproof in these pictures so I've included it in the next.

My second purchase included the sweet heart palette, darling chomalust, goldilux chromalust, decora chromalust, hysteric chromalust, paperdoll chromalust, birthday girl chromalust, junebug chromalust, and royal sugar chromalust.

Swatches of the sweet heart palette: tako - white, dollipop - pink, midori - green, afterparty - blue plus bulletproof - black

From left to right: junebug, darling, royal sugar, hysteric, paperdoll, birthday girl, decora and goldilux.

Everything that I've heard about the quality of the makeup has been true. The colors are quite blendable, soft to the touch and a little pigment goes a long way! So far may favorite colors would be goldilux, junebug and asylum. I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to getting the rest of the colors available!!
