ROMA!

We have now have arrived in Rome and are staying in a hostle that has free wine, breakfast and dinner, and free internet for the price of 15 euros a night. It is nice to be in a place to sleep again. We had a good day today, we have continued to travel with this girl melissa and she has become a good travling companion. She was orriginally planning to go to sicily but she couldnt get a reservation on a train so she came with us. Today we went to this castle and got to see this really cool burial chamber. It was actually covered in glass floors and we got to walk over top and look down and it was dark but lit up really neat and had some spooky music. We then made our way up to the Archeaological museum and got to look at some of the most beautiful paintings on wall and mosaics that I have ever seen. There was also a egyptian exibit in the basement that had mummy heads with hair and feet. Crazy. We wanted to go to the Science center but it was too far away and we would have to take some trains so we ended up wandering around and just looking at the awamzing buildings situated within the city. While wandering we got some gellato.......mmmmmmmm.... SOOOO good. It is the best honestly. We are planning to spend two days in Rome and then head for Florence. I am really excited to see the sights around here it should be really interesting

Miss everybody alot!

Hi Bird, Rome sounds great. I know you will like Florence, lots of things to see. The place where Heather and I stayed was Called Lucca about an hour from Florence and about 1/2 hour from Pisa. A great place for you to visit if you have the chance. Also another spot is called the Cinque Terre, this area is on the coast and is a great hike along the mountain side from town to town. also great food and wine.Love and miss you . Bob

Hi Kelsey,
This week is Astor Piazzolas birthday and so you MUST go dancing in his honour. (he is a famous Tango Orchestra conductor - I am sure he won't mind if you don't tango)
I like the description of this latest hostel. I am clear that Wine for breakfast may make your site seeing fuzzy ( don't ask me how I know).

If I could live any where I would be in Italy (other than the language as being a wee bit of a problem) it is so lovely there.

Firensa, Siena assisi perugia, Verragio, wow what a feast of fabulous places.

Jamie really liked cinque tere although I have not been there it is supposed to be wonderful too.

One thing others did to avoid the lineups to the Uffizzi Gallery in Florence was to purchase a ticket from a hotel. It may avoid the long line if there is one this time of year, However, you never know who you can meet in the line up.
I found the markets in Florence the best! The other thing that may happen when you get to the markets in florence is that they will say anything to make a sale. Jamie almost purchased this darling bag because the gal selling it to her assured her it was lambs leather - it was plastic. No kidding.

Got to run - I am off to tango to celebrate Astor.

Have a great time,
All good things,
Jessica
