Wow. I read some of the old posts here and I realize what a difference a year can make. If you're ever feeling down or stuck in a rut; write down what your issues currently are and take the steps to see how each of them can be addressed within the next year. Then put those notes away and come back to them in a year or more. It can be surprising what changes will have happened. Chances are whatever you're facing today as issues will be substantially different than they were a year ago. Things change and get better if you take action. But keep it reasonable! Give it a year.
So Seeing as I'm trying to update my blog with more current events, I thought I'd keep going with what has happened in the last 2 years. This is going to be a loonnngg post. Haha
First and foremost September 2015 on Chris birthday, he asked me to marry him. We were celebrating his birthday at a music festival called FozzyFest in British Colombia and all our friends were there so it was a great experience and we had an awesome time there.
We only recently started to actually plan the wedding, which won't be happening until June 2018 (originally 2017...but we got another surprise) but it's starting to really come together so I'm looking forward to having a fun time with friends and family to celebrate Chris and my relationship. We'll have been together for just over 11 years by the time we tie the knot.
We have also taken on some of the project we set out to do when we bought our house and in April of last year we built the big deck we were thinking about the year before. Both Chris and I took a week off in April of 2016 and with the help of my dad built a beautiful deck. Here's some photos of the work we did that week.
So the addition of the deck in the back yard was a huge house improvement. We use the back yard so much more. We've a had a number of great BBQ's with friends and family. We have plans to buy a hot tub for the back corner but we'll have to wait until we have the funds to do so. It was a great feeling of pride and accomplishment that we did this ourselves. I designed most of the deck using my dads building expertise to make it a reality and we spent a fraction of what we would have if we hired a builder.
In addition to the deck we've done some other projects around the house. The hearth of the fireplace and the tile in the front entrance have been re-tiled.
Here's a before and after picture of the living room/fireplace/entrance. The hard wood we did right after we moved in, in addition to the fireplace and front entrance, are such a huge improvement!
So stay tuned for more updates on our growing family! I'm so excited to be a mom. <3
