More good things to come!

SOOOO much can happen in a year.... or two.

Wow. I read some of the old posts here and I realize what a difference a year can make. If you're ever feeling down or stuck in a rut; write down what your issues currently are and take the steps to see how each of them can be addressed within the next year. Then put those notes away and come back to them in a year or more. It can be surprising what changes will have happened. Chances are whatever you're facing today as issues will be substantially different than they were a year ago. Things change and get better if you take action. But keep it reasonable! Give it a year.

So Seeing as I'm trying to update my blog with more current events, I thought I'd keep going with what has happened in the last 2 years. This is going to be a loonnngg post. Haha

First and foremost September 2015 on Chris birthday, he asked me to marry him. We were celebrating his birthday at a music festival called FozzyFest in British Colombia and all our friends were there so it was a great experience and we had an awesome time there.

We only recently started to actually plan the wedding, which won't be happening until June 2018 (originally 2017...but we got another surprise) but it's starting to really come together so I'm looking forward to having a fun time with friends and family to celebrate Chris and my relationship. We'll have been together for just over 11 years by the time we tie the knot.

We have also taken on some of the project we set out to do when we bought our house and in April of last year we built the big deck we were thinking about the year before. Both Chris and I took a week off in April of 2016 and with the help of my dad built a beautiful deck. Here's some photos of the work we did that week.

So the addition of the deck in the back yard was a huge house improvement. We use the back yard so much more. We've a had a number of great BBQ's with friends and family. We have plans to buy a hot tub for the back corner but we'll have to wait until we have the funds to do so. It was a great feeling of pride and accomplishment that we did this ourselves. I designed most of the deck using my dads building expertise to make it a reality and we spent a fraction of what we would have if we hired a builder.

In addition to the deck we've done some other projects around the house. The hearth of the fireplace and the tile in the front entrance have been re-tiled.

Here's a before and after picture of the living room/fireplace/entrance. The hard wood we did right after we moved in, in addition to the fireplace and front entrance, are such a huge improvement!

So here comes the best for last! At the very beginning of December 2016 Chris and I found out that we are expecting a baby (we know now that it's a girl). Wedding plans had to be postponed and other things like a baby room became the priority. We decided to change the weird little nook behind the fireplace into a nursery and keep it on the same level as the master bedroom ( I didn't want to be running down stairs for our little one). So far we've started to close off the space between the fireplace and the far wall and are making it into a entertainment unit and wood holder for the fireplace side and a small closet and storage for the nursery side. I will include some pictures later once it is complete. We also want to close in the room with some french doors by the railing on the other side of the fireplace. There's a lot of work to do and its started to be crunch time cause this baby is due in just over a month (Aug 3rd! AGH!). At least we had a fantastic baby shower at the beginning of June so all the essentials are covered. Now its just organization time and trying to mentally prepare myself for the delivery and the life changes that come with a baby!

So stay tuned for more updates on our growing family! I'm so excited to be a mom. <3

Big life changes

It's been a while...

I just realized its been over a year since my last post. A ton of things have happened since that last post.
Firstly I haven't been feeling like myself for a while. I was super depressed, had a hard time focusing on anything, had absolutely no energy, was gaining weight like it was going out of style and then my hair started to grow in really weird, super brittle and wiry and then lots was falling out. I asked my dad, who is a doctor, what was wrong but he told me I was just getting older. HAHA! I wasn't even 30 yet and I think he just didn't want to think that his daughter could have something wrong with her. So I started doing research in scientific journals and found that I wasn't just "getting older" and my problems weren't imaginary. I got tested and was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, Hashimoto thyroiditis. It's been a year since I started being medicated and finally got a specialist to see me a couple months ago. I'm feeling much better but I know this will be an ongoing problem that I will have to monitor for the rest of my life. I'm just happy that I figured out what was wrong and am now working on being happy inside and out.

Second! Chris and I bought a house! We were getting in a super stressful situation renting as the amount of rent kept going up and up to an almost unaffordable amount. We realized that we would be paying much less in mortgage payments and so we took the plunge and found a house to call our own. We've got a bunch of little projects in the works. We want to build a deck in the back yard, do some painting in some of the rooms, update the lighting and bathrooms and reface the fireplace. We tackled the gross carpet in the living room in January and installed hardwood floors. This place is starting to feel more and more like home.

We also adopted two rescue puppies a few month ago so life has definitely started to revolve around taking care of them and planning activities with them.
been to music festivals, installed hardwood in our new house, adopted two rescue puppies and now planning our activities for the summer (including a triathlon... so i need to get in shape!). I also bought some new makeup so I definitely have a bunch of picture to show everyone.

Sidenote, I thought I had posted this when I wrote it. Which was over a year ago.

Future hoop

OOOOOoooooooo......

I also have to share my newest toy. This thing is awesome. It has 4 different settings (rainbow, motif, isolation, and I cant remember the name of the last one but I'm going to call it atomic) and changes colour and pattern throughout. If you like to hula hoop and want something amazing pick one of these up at moodhoops.com!

Summer shenanigans

Hey everyone!!

It's been forever since I made a post and I thought I'd do a little update to explain my absence. I'm currently in school attempting to get into veterinary medicine. I'm taking 5 classes right now as well as working so I've been a little MIA. It's been hard trying to balance things but I'm staying on top so that's positive. I've had some great adventures this summer. I made my yearly trip to BC and went to Shambhala music festival for my 10th year in a row. I was thinking of taking a break next year but after being there this year I think that I will most likely make it out again in 2014. Here are some picture from this years trip to BC
